Introducing Backgammon 3.0
This is the moment every serious backgammon player has been waiting for: on October 07, 2009, XcitingGames will launch Backgammon 3.0!
XcitingGames has long been famous for its revolutionary system, but our developement has never ceased. We are about to go far beyond what we have already achieved. Backgammon 3.0 is more than just a few software changes, it's a whole new concept. And we hope you'll like it!
Goodbye Rating
At XcitingGames, we believe the time is right for a change and we believe in taking chances. Our vision was to improve our backgammon experience, by tailoring it towards more action and more fun.
That's why we have decided to remove the ELO rating system, to revise our rake, and to enhance the game play.
Rake Changes
We've decided to team up with our players, by lowering the rake for matches and single games, to as little as 1.4 %. In addition, the rake for single games is now capped at €15 flat, regardless of the stake you are playing.

Multi Tabling and Other Highlights
We know our players have been waiting for this: play up to 4 backgammon games simultaneously with completely scalable windows! But there are more changes to the software.
The move times for matches and single games are reduced to 30 seconds. This means more action at the tables and less waiting for the opponent to make his move!
We are also introducing ghost checkers to indicate the possible moves. Just hover over the checker you would like to move with the mouse and wait for the ghost checkers to appear. Never miss a move again with this brand new feature!
Impressed? Just wait till you see the changes made for our fair play campaign. Tired of players dropping to annoy you or to save some money? So are we!
Fair Play Initiative
To encourage continuous fair play we are increasing the dropper penalty to 20 %. Another part of our solution is to abolish free disconnects and to turn the extra time into reconnect time. You can even make your move if you are on turn and your opponent is offline. Then all you have to do is wait for his extra time to run out - or start another game with our new multi tabling feature.
It is now impossible to close the backgammon table until the session has been finished or resigned. This encourages all players to finish their games. Games also can't be switched to private anymore, they are watchable by everybody.
We have also done away with a major hassle that many players have grown uncomfortable with: it is no longer necessary to accept resignations. As to every rule, there is an exception. In this case it is with tournaments, where resignations that do not lead to the forfeit of the match must be accepted.
Screen Name Change
We are aware that removing the ELO rating system is a big step and we want to provide the same chances and a fresh start to all players. Therefore, every player is entitled to change his screen name with the introduction of Backgammon 3.0 for a new start at XcitingGames.

The Poker IronMan
This highlight will crown our Poker IronMan. 5 different poker disciplines, 5 days and our best players make this tournament a fast paced event full of action and variety. Every tournament offers a guaranteed prize of €2000 and the 5 best IronMen will receive an extra €1000 on top of it.
We're running these tournaments daily from 14.09.09 to 18.09.09. Each day will offer a different challenge in another poker discipline, starting off with Hold'em NL and covering Omaha Pot Limit, Seven Card Stud, Hold'em Pot Limit and Omaha Split Pot.

July Triple Feature: €6000 Prize Money
Poker Race
A total of €2000 will go back to the pockets of those 20 players who play the most raked poker hands between July 15 and July 29.
Poker FPP Regatta
Another €2000 go to the 20 players who collect the most poker FPPs over the same time period from July 15 2008 to July 29 2008. Everybody can participate and everybody can win. All you have to do is earn FPPs in poker games. Everything counts: cash games, sit & go's and tournaments!
Backgammon FPP Regatta
Of course we do not want our backgammon players to be left behind. So we are giving out another €2000 to the 20 players that collect the most FPPs in backgammon matches, single games, sit & go's, and tournaments, from July 15 to July 29.

FPP Tournaments Online
With every real money game you play at XcitingGames you automatically collect valuable Frequent Player Points (FPP).
Now you can use your Frequent Player Points to participate in daily FPP tournaments and to win added prize money!
Poker tournaments start at 18:45 (GMT) and are be limited to 150 players. Backgammon tournaments take place at 18:15 (GMT) and are limited to 128 players. The buy-in to both tournaments is 100 FPP and the prize pool is €10.
