Where can I check the rules for each game?
Select the “Poker” tab and click on “Rules” on the left side.
How do I join a table?
Go to the poker lobby. Here you can find various tab bars to switch between the different games and game types, e.g. “Holdem”, “Omaha”, “7Stud” and “Tourneys”. Click on the tab of your choice. Choose your desired stake. A double-click takes you to the table where you can either sit down or join the waiting list if the table is full. Of course you may also just watch the table for a while.
What if I lose my connection during a poker hand?
If you are able to reconnect in time, you will receive extra time to act. Otherwise, if you have a free disconnect left, you will be considered all-in. Therefore, you can only lose what you had bet before you lost your connection and you can only win the respective amounts from the other players in that pot. If you do not have a free disconnect left and you are unable to reconnect in time, the money you had bet is lost. Please also note that we do not provide disconnect protection for play money tables.
Can I get hand histories about my poker play?
Yes. In the lobby go to the menu Tools > Request Hand History. You have three different options:
- You can get a hand history for a certain number of recent hands (min. 1, max. 100).
- You can get a hand history for a specific hand number.
- You can get a hand history for a complete multi-table-tournament (MTT) or satellite tournament. For Sit-and-Go tournaments you have to use the first option.
Are XcitingGames employees allowed to play poker on your site?
No, our employees are strictly forbidden to play on our site.
How do I register for a poker tournament?
Go to the poker lobby. Click on the “Tourneys” tab if you want to join a Sit-and-Go tournament. Click on the “MTT” tab for multi-table-tournaments or on the “Satellite” tab for qualification tournaments. Then choose the tournament you like and double-click on it. That will take you to the tournament lobby where you can register for the tournament after the registration has opened.
Can I play a side game and a poker tournament at the same time?
Yes, of course you can. You can play up to four poker tables simultaneously, no matter how many are side game tables, and how many are tournament tables.
Can I play poker and backgammon at the same time?
Yes, you can and you are invited to do so.
What are your chat rules?
Be nice. Be polite. Only English at the tables, please. In case somebody repeatedly violates our guidelines, we will take appropriate measures.
Can I play for free?
Sure you can. Feel free to try our play money tables at XcitingGames. We even have one of our private hosts duty at the play money table for you. There are some restrictions to play money games though. You cannot choose from the whole variety of our hosts that are on shift.
What do you charge for playing at the real money tables?
For providing you with XcitingGames, we charge a service fee, called the “rake[q/]. The rake is a portion of the pot that will never exceed 5%. Also, there is a cap to the rake depending on the stake of the game, for example €3 in a €15/€30 game. See our Rake Tables for more details.
What are free disconnects?
In order to protect our players from unfair behaviour, such as the all-in on purpose, we provide the concept of “free disconnects”. The maximum number of free disconnects is two. Every time you lose your connection and don't get back in time you lose one free disconnect. You are allowed to reset the number of free disconnects to two, but just once a day. Once you are out of free disconnects, you are in an awkward position, because the money you have put into a pot is no longer protected in case of a disconnection.
How fair are the cards dealt?
More fair than any human dealer could ever deal the cards. XcitingGames employs the ISAAC pseudo random number generator (PRNG) which is fast, efficient, and cryptographically secure. Even though it was first published ten years ago, no attacks have been discovered to date that impact the practical security of the ISAAC algorithm. It is therefore impossible to predict our random numbers in advance. Our card shuffling algorithm makes use of these random numbers to produce completely unbiased shuffles. As you can see, our system is guaranteed to provide you with the most random of randoms. Also see our security pages for further information.
